Joseph Andrews (Founder)
Joseph Andrews is the founder of the Law Office of Joseph Andrews and concentrates his practice on Delaware workmen's compensation, insurance matters and complex business litigation. He represents employers, insurance carriers and third-party administrators throughout all stages of the workmen's compensation process, from the initial investigation of a claim through litigation before the Industrial Accident Board and appeals.
A significant part of Mr. Andrews' practice involves claims presenting unusual factual, medical or legal issues. His litigated matters have resulted in published decisions addressing fraud, compensability and causation, coverage disputes, recurrence and disability claims, the scope of accepted injuries, employment relationships and the termination or limitation of future liability. Mr. Andrews has also testified before the Delaware Senate concerning proposed amendments to Delaware's workmen's compensation law and has been authorized by the Delaware Insurance Commissioner to provide continuing education courses to insurance professionals. He regularly provides seminars concerning Delaware workmen's compensation law and claims handling.
Before founding the Firm in 2013, Mr. Andrews practiced in the areas of workmen’s compensation defense, construction law, contracts and corporate law. Following law school, he served as chief law clerk to the Chief Judge of the Delaware Family Court. He is admitted to practice in Delaware and Maryland as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
Mr. Andrews graduated cum laude from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he majored in political science with a focus on accounting. Before becoming an attorney, he served through AmeriCorps at Nativity Preparatory School in Wilmington, Delaware, teaching Latin, Algebra and American History to at-risk students while attending Widener University's Delaware Law School evening program. In 2022 he became a founding trustee and first Chairman of the Board of Holy Cross High School. He served as the school’s first Latin teacher in 2025 during the school's inaugural year and remains its Vice Chairman of the Board and legal counsel.
Mr. Andrews has been recognized as a "Top Lawyer" by Delaware Today magazine. In addition to his workmen's compensation and insurance practice, he selectively represents clients in business matters, contract disputes, debt collection and Federal and State trademark matters.
